WELCOME TO THE EARLY YEARS MIND
Educational psychology belongs in everyday Early Years practice.
Understanding how children develop enriches the way we teach, support and respond to them.
There’s something extraordinary happening in even the most ordinary moments of childhood. Through play, exploration, conversations and discoveries, children are constantly making sense of themselves and the world around them.
The Early Years Mind explores the fascinating psychology behind how children think, learn, feel and grow. Bringing together psychological research and everyday Early Years practice, it’s a space for curiosity, reflection and a deeper appreciation of the remarkable ways children develop.
With a positive, strengths-based approach at its heart, TEYM celebrates children’s capabilities, explores the conditions that help them flourish, and encourages thoughtful conversations about how we can enrich their experiences of learning and development.

Hello world!

A little about me…
Hello! I’m Josie – an Early Years teacher with a background in psychology, a fascination with child development and a habit of asking “why?” about almost everything!
I’ve always been interested in the connections between psychological research and the everyday experiences of children and educators. I love discovering the science behind something familiar, finding new perspectives and exploring what it all means for practice.
That’s why I created The Early Years Mind — a space to bring psychology and Early Years education together, share ideas, spark curiosity and encourage thoughtful conversations with fellow educators.
